A long queue of unemployed youth outside DIET (Teachers Training College) at Porvorim.
PANAJI: The Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao on Monday lamented stating it was disturbing to see unemployed youth lined up for the handful of jobs advertised by the DIET (Teachers Training College) at Porvorim.
“This is the result of the BJP’s jumlas ahead of every election. Prior to every election, be it Zilla Parishad, panchayat, State Legislative Assembly or the Parliamentary polls, the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has promised 10k jobs to Goans,” Alemao said.
“We want to know where these jobs are? The long queues at DIET are a testament to the Congress party’s charges that the BJP is depriving Goan youth of job opportunities,” said Alemao.
He said the Periodic Labour Force Survey reveals the Goan unemployment rate is double that of the national average.
This is not all, he added, after the CM’s promise of jobs, the BJP State president Sadanand Shet Tanavade said that cannot give jobs to everyone. “Isn’t Sadanand Tanavade aware that his party leader and CM Sawant made false promises to electorates and youths and hoodwinked them?” he questioned.
Alemao said this has been the main reason for brain drain in Goa.
“Goan youth are left with no other option but to look for greener pastures abroad because whatever jobs are advertised they are booked for the NEAR AND DEAR ones or for “CASH FOR JOBS”,” he charged.
