  3. RECRUITMENT PROCESSES WILL CONTINUE, APPOINTMENTS AFTER APRIL 1: CM SAWANT

PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said that there is no blanket ban on government recruitment but the circular prohibiting appointments during the final (January to March) quarter of the current financial year is meant to curtail revenue expenditure and limit deficits.

“All ongoing recruitment processes will continue but appointments  of selected candidates will take place only after April 1,” Sawant clarified.

Currently, the Goa Staff Selection Commission (GSSC) has already set in motion a process to hire hundreds of clerks and stenographers for various government departments and the examination is slated to be conducted later this month.

However, the State government’s circular issued earlier this week directing all departments to rationalize expenditure in the last quarter of the year had made mention of a ban on creating new posts raising doubts over government recruitment.

Sawant said, the ban on recruitment imposed via the circular only means that appointments would not be immediately made and be deferred to April.

“The ongoing processes of recruitment through the Goa Staff Selection Commission and Goa Public Service Commission will continue,” he said, adding that the circular issued on Tuesday is only a measure to ensure that there is no financial implication on the State from new recruitment at the financial year-end.
