REMEMBERING LATE REGINA FERNANDES ON HER BIRTH ANNIVERSARY
PANAJI: Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG) president Menino Fernandes popularly known as Menino de along with vice president Mario Menezes and member secretary Cezar D’Mello and staff Bandar paid tribute to late Regina Fernandes, the first woman on Konkani stage on her birth anniversary by garlanding the portrait.
Due to COVID-19 pandemic situation, the function could not be organised in a bigger way but her contribution to the tiatr was remembered by the TAG president. In his speech, Fernandes said that we are celebrating her 140th anniversary and she was the first woman on Konkani stage, who gave us the lead and later more followed.
Mario Menezes said due to her entry on tiatr stage, many female artistes joined tiatr and still more figures keep on coming and now it is easier to find females than males.
Cezar D’Mello welcomed and later proposed a vote of thanks.
