ROHAN KHAUNTE OPENS CREMATORIUM FOR PORVORIM RESIDENTS
PORVORIM: Porovrim MLA Rohan Khaunte partially opened state-of-the-art State of the art crematorium at Porvorim.
In his brief speech, Khaunte said that the facility would be managed by the Serula Vaikuntdham Committee.
Khaunte said that the facility was partially inaugurated as its work was stalled due to COVID-19 pandemic situation. He said that the facility will spare the people from Porvorim to travel to Panaji to conduct the final rites.
“When we speak of all inclusive development for the constituency, the facilities should be provided to all communities perform final rites,” the MLA said.
The crematorium is located between Pehna de Franca and Salvador do Mundo panchayats, while the facility is meant for the entire Porvorim area, he said.
Khaunte said that the work on crematorium had started pre-COVID times, but due to some “political reasons” the work was stalled.
“Some part of the crematorium is complete, while some is yet to be completed. When people are in trouble, they approach elected representatives like MLA, ZP members and panchayat members, who have to solve their issue,” Khaunte said.
