SC YET TO DECIDE WHETHER MHADEI VERDICT TO BE PHYSICAL OR VIRTUAL: FELIPE NERI

PANAJI: Water Resources Minister Felipe Neri Rodrigues on Saturday said the Supreme Court is yet to decide on Goa’s plea for a physical hearing on special leave petition regarding Mhadei river water dispute between Goa and Karnataka.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function in Panaji, Felipe Neri said that Goa has pleaded for a physical hearing on the special leave petition (SLP) and the Apex Court is yet to decide whether hearing will be physical or through video conferencing.

“We have prayed for physical hearing. We are waiting for that decision. As and when matter comes we will protect our interest before the Supreme Court,” he said. Last month due to Navratri festival, the Supreme Court adjoured Mhadei river dispute case between two neighbouring States of Goa and Karnataka to November.

All three States ie Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra have filed special leave petitions (SLPs) and the Supreme Court has clubbed them together for a joint hearing.
