PANAJI: Union Minister for Tourism, Ports, Shipping and Waterways on Sunday called on people to go back to the traditional foods and recipes if one wanted to live a long and healthy life and praised author Dr. Rina Saish Lawande for her book Surboos Khanna Jevnna that was released on Sunday.

Speaking at the launch of the book “Surboos Khanna Jevnna” a one of its kind Konkani recipe book authored by Dr. Rina Saish Lawande that brings together traditional and popular recipes from the days of old, Naik complimented her for preserving the fast fading knowledge that survived so far only through word of mouth.

“In the old days, when we used to cook, there used to be ingredients that had medicinal effects and these used to be used in the preparation. Today our lives are taken over by fast food and we do not eat on time. Ayurveda used to tell us what to eat, at what time and in what quantity. I am happy that books like these will help take us back to our roots,” Naik said.

Naik launched the book in the presence of author Dr Rina Lawande, Vinanti Kalangutkar who spoke about the book and Ramesh Ghadi who wrote the foreword for the book, Designer Hrushikesh Aatwale and Er. Sagar Lawande who is publisher of the book.

The book was published by S L Book house publisher, as its first publication.

The 178 page book includes both vegetarian and non-vegetarian recipes as well as of snacks and traditional savouries.

Er. Saish Lawande compared the function and Dr. Suraj Lawande proposed Vote of thanks
