Panaji- The recently concluded six days Session of the Goa Legislative Assembly exposed that the Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar did his duty as “Pakshpaati” (Partisan) & not as “Sabhapati” (Speaker) charged Congress President Amit Patkar.
LOP & Cuncolim MLA Yuri Alemao, Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa and Aldona MLA Adv. Carlos Ferreira did their duties with “Sincerity” while the BJP Government headed by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant displayed only “Chicanery”, stated Amit Patkar.
Addressing a Press Conference at the Congress House along with Senior Vice President M K Shaikh, General Secretary Vijay Bhike and Capt. Viriato Fernandes, GPCC President Amit Patkar congratulated all three Congress MLAs for raising the issues of Public Importance and being Voice of the Goans in Assembly.
Everyone saw how the “Custodian of the House” behaved like a “Custodian of Corruption”. He commenced the Session with “Charges of Corruption” and concluded the Session with “Amicable Solution”. This entire epiosde has brought disrepute to the Office of the Speaker, claimed Amit Patkar.
It looks like the Master Manipulators of BJP stage managed the drama of “Corruption and Solution to Corruption” to divert attention from issues of Mhadei, ST Reservations, Mining Resumptions, Unemployment, Rising Crimes, Fatal Accidents and Wasteful Expenditure on Events, said Amit Patkar.
It is evident from the Misleading and False Replies given to various Legislative Questions tabled by our Congress MLAs that the BJP Government is only Manipulating Facts & Figures to create an Artificial Feeling of “Achhe Din”. In reality, the Economy, Employment and Enforcement are at all-time low, said Amit Patkar.
GPCC President Amit Patkar gave various Examples such as announcing Iron Ore Dump Policy without having the Data on Quantum of Iron Ore, IPB Projects approved in Cultivable, Irrigation & Protected Monument areas, Government deliberately ignoring Passport Surrendering & Dual Citizenship issue and various other issues.
Government has huge Pending Recoveries from various Government Departments amounting to almost 5000 crores. This include Mining Dues of 271.75 Crores, Goa Rural Improvement & Welfare Cess of 230.35, Recovery of Green Cess, Recovery of Outstanding’s from Industrial, Commercial & Government Defaulters of Electricity Bills of 1460.78 crores, Casino Dues etc, claimed Amit Patkar.
BJP Government has not cleared Dues of Welfare Schemes amounting to almost 500 Crores of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development, Sportspersons, Artists etc. claimed Amit Patkar.
On the other hand BJP Government spent almost 500 Crores on various events including Swearing-in Ceremony, Mega Job Fair, Zuari Bridge Inauguration, Purple Fest, IFFI etc which turned out to be wasteful expenditure, Amit Patkar said.
All this has resulted in State Liability touching 35000 Crores with each Goan carrying a burden of 2.20 lakhs on his head. Goa is in Financial Emergency, stated Amit Patkar.
