SWR POSTPONES TRACK LAYING WORK AT DAVORLIM

MARGAO: The South Western Railway (SWR), Hubballi division has postponed the work of laying track for level crossing at Davorlim.

Though the SWR has cited operational constraints as the reason to postpone the work it is learnt that the work of laying track was postponed due to ongoing agitation by the people, who last week blocked Guirdolim-Chandor railway crossing.

The SWR stated that they had obtained permission for execution of track laying from the South Goa collector vide order no. 37/128/2008/MAG/12392 dated 26th October 2020.

However, due to operational constraints, the work scheduled on 9th November 2020 at Davorlim is postponed till further notice, informed GM/RVNL.

It may be noted that Goyant Kollso Naka, which is spearheading agitation against coal transportation had threatened to stop the work of laying double track at Davorlim on the night of 8th November if the government fails to revoke the orders of the South Goa Collector who had permitted road closure at Davorlim railway crossing.
