The Parish of ‘Our lady of Health’ at Ucassaim and the Parish of ‘Bom Jesus’ at Nachinola Bardez Goa have a very unique age old tradition which these two parishes along with its parishioners have cherished and carried forward for more the 200 years sharing the bond of love and friendship between the two Churches and its parishioners.
A special mention to the Confrads of both the Church’s which play a key role in this age old tradition which has been passed on my the fore fathers to the present generation and the present generation is looking to pass on the same to the next generations thus keeping this special bond between both the Parishes alive.
As the Parish of Bom Jesus at Nachinola Goa celebrated its feast on the 1st of January 2024 the Parish of Our Lady of Health at Ucassaim along with its confrads and parishioners left at 7.30 am from their Parish to celebrate and participate in the celebration of the feast of Bom Jesus with their families and friends at Nachinola.
Walking a distance of 4 KM approximately carrying Cross, candles, Bonderam, they reach the entry point at Nachinola village wherein their are welcomed by the Confrads of the Bom Jesus Parish Nachinola. Thereafter they together in a procession they head towards the church to the eucharistic celebration of the feast of Bom Jesus.
The same is followed by the high mass and the procession as they take part in the festivities of their brothers from Nachinola, after which the Confrads who have travelled from Ucassaim proceed towards Ucassaim walking the same distance back to Ucassaim.
Overtime there are various difficulties in carrying out the tradition but the Confrad brothers and sisters make it possible to carry out and take forward this age old tradition between the two parishes thus keeping alive this special bond that the two neighbouring Parishes in North Goa share with each other.
