THE GOA PRADESH CONGRESS COMMITTEE DEMAND SCRAPPING OF RAILWAY DOUBLE TRACKING, WIDENING OF NATIONAL HIGHWAY AND TAMNAR POWER LINE

PANAJI: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) will hold a public meeting at Lohia Maidan, Margao at 4 pm on Saturday, November 7, to demand scrapping of railway double tracking, widening of national highway and Tamnar power line passing through Mollem wildlife sanctuary.

Speaking to reporters at Congress, GPCC president Girish Chodankar said that the Congress party has convened the meeting it will be open to all environmentalists and NGOs spearheading the agitation and that no political party banner will be used.

Girish appealed to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Environment Minister Nilesh Cabral not to become mouthpiece of the coal companies and not to give political colour to the ongoing protests to oppose work of railway double tracking and coal transportation. He appealed to the BJP govt to have public hearings on the mega projects, listen to the people’s voice a take a decision for people of Goa, not for Adani and Jindal.
