The Installation ceremony program of the Indian Medical Association, Goa State executive committee for 2024 was held on January 7, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at Grand Hall Z SQUARE, 4th Floor Samrat Ashok Théâtre Complex, Panaji Goa.
Dr. Chandrakant Shetye MLA, Bicholim, Chairman, Infotech Corporation of Goa, was the chief guest.
The program included a C.M.E on “ Making goa a model state in mental health” by Dr. Vikram Patel and “ End of life care” by Dr. Naveen Salins
This was followed by a panel discussion on above topics with Prof. Abhijit Nadkarni and Dr Ravindra Agrawal being other two panelists which was moderated by Dr kalpana chodankar.
Dr. Sandesh Chodankar heads the new committee along with Dr. Rajashree Marathe as the secretary and Dr. Gauresh Palav as the Treasurer, dr medha salkar as news editor and dr pradip padwal as representative to central ima among other members.
Dr. Chandrakant Shetye praised IMA Goa for their initiatives in medico-social activities and emphasized unity in delivering healthcare, mentioning Goa government’s reforms in the healthcare sector.

Dr. Vikram Patel discussed the significance of mental health, highlighting its evolution globally and within the state’s context. He emphasized its inclusion in national health programs.
Dr. Naveen Salins focused on end-of-life care and medical futility, presenting legal and technical aspects of palliative care.

The event’s highlight was the unveiling of the “Give Goa Project,” a mental health assessment of medical professionals in the state conducted by the Goa Institute of Management, supported by IMA Goa State, Sangat NGO, Goa institute of management and goa chamber of commerce.
