RESPONSIBILITY TO REBUILD GOA : ANDRADE
MARGAO: Goa Pradesh Youth Congress President Joel Andrade said that there is a systematic attempt to damage Goa and the time has arrived for the younger generation to lead a movement to rebuild Goa with the guidance of the seniors.
Joel Andrade was speaking after paying tributes to Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and Former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at a function held at Congress South Goa District Headquarters, Margao on Wednesay.
“These two extra ordinary men stood for peace, love, truth, and non-violence. Today’s Goa government is practicing exactly the opposite. Goa’s land is being converted at a scale where the quality of the air we breathe has reduced drastically. Unemployment is at an all-time high. Law and order situation is out of control. Murders, shoot outs and so much more. Inflation has sky rocketed. Economy is going from bad to worse. It’s time for the younger generation to lead a movement to rebuild Goa with the guidance of our seniors.”
State vice president Kenishia Menezes said, “Mahatma Gandhi has been a role model to many of our generation. If he was alive today, we would have probably cried and fought tooth and nail with non-violence for our people. The situation is going out of control. Our youth do not have jobs and are struggling to make ends meet.”
Spokesperson Valima Fernandes said, “Bapu Ji fought for our freedom. It is time we all unite, fight this destruction that Goa is going through together and make him proud. It is very sad to see people from different walks of life coming on the streets to fight for their rights. We can rebuild Goa.”
State general secretary Leovita Pereira proposed a e vote of thanks and requested all office-bearers and members of the youth Congress to take forward the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi and Shastri.
