  3. TMC demands scrapping of Sec. 39A of the TCP Act, to stop the highest level of corruption

Coming down heavily on the Goa BJP government, Goa TMC Joint Convenor Samil Volvoikar in a press conference held at the party’s office, stated that the government is out to finish the existence of Goa, by replacing Section 16B of the Town and Country Planning Act with Section 39A, which amounts to corruption at the ultimate level.

Launching a scathing attack on the BJP government, Volvoikar alleged that, by misusing Sections 16B and 17/2 of the TCP Act, the government had converted lacs of square meters of land which includes agriculture land, orchards, No Development Zone, natural cover, etc. into a direct settlement zone overnight. He further added that, with an ulterior motive of finishing Goan villages, the BJP government has inserted 39A in the TCP Act, and scrapped altogether the land use planning exercise of formulating regional plans which were in use for so many years.

Volvoikar severely criticized the new section which is in addition to Section 17(2) and gives power to the Chief Town Planner to alter or modify the Regional Plan or the Outline Development Plan (ODP) for carrying out a change of zone of land after every 3- 4 months. Goa BJP government is talking about establishing Ramrajya in the state, but it will not be possible for them in this birth, since the government is out to loot Goa with the new amendment 39A.

Volvoikar pledged Goa TMC’s support to the ‘Goa against 39A,’ protest organized by NGOs and social activists, which will be held on Thursday, and reiterated to fight for the existence of Goa, the new Section 39A in the TCP Act should be scrapped.
