Panaji July 21, 2023: The Governor Shri P.S. Shreedharan Pillai attended the Van Mahotsava Programme at Raj Bhavan and planted Mango samplings in the campus of Raj Bhavan.

The program was jointly organised by Raj Bhavan and Department of Forest. First Lady of Goa Smt. K. Rita Pillai graced the occassion and planted the sapling. Others present were Shri Puneet Kumar Goel, IAS, Chief Secretary, Shri MRM Rao, IAS, Secretary to Governor, Shri Rajiv Kumar Gupta, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Smt. Yesodha K, IFS, Conservator of Forest, Shri Umakant, IFS, Additional Principal, Chief Conservator of Forest, Shri Praveen Kumar Raghav, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forest, Shri Saurabh Kumar, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forest, Shri Sanjeev Gauns Dessai, Add. Secretary to Governor and other officials participated in Vanmahotsava celebrations and planted fruit bearing plants.

The event is aimed to promote afforestation and environmental awareness in the region. Vanmahotsava symbolized the importance of planting diverse and valuable trees. Their active participation will set an inspiring example for the attendees.

As a part of the initiative to involve the public in the process, free plant saplings were distributed to the people by the Governor and the First Lady of Goa. The gesture is aimed to encourage individual involvement in the conservation efforts and to create a sense of responsibility among citizens towards environment.
