PANAJI:: Furthering the commitment to promoting local enterprises, promoting equal opportunities, and supporting entities working for the betterment of society, Vedanta Sesa Goa marked the  beginning of the Diwali festivities by extending support to various organisation including SHGs, and institutes such  the Lokvishwas Pratishthan and Keshav Seva Sadhna Vocational Training Centre, Bicholim, which cater to the skilling needs of ‘special’ children.

As part of the initiative, the talented students from the two institutes and the woman entrepreneurs from the SHGs were provided an opportunity to present hand crafted Diwali related inventory at Vedanta locations across Goa, including Panjim, Amona, Bicholim.

The inventory on display included beautifully handcrafted Diwali decoration items, such as vibrant diyas, intricately designed Akash Kandeels and candles, with each item of the inventory bearing testament to the talent  and ingenuity of the students.

The stalls received tremendous support from the employees and business partners at Vedanta sites through brisk sales. The spontaneous and positive reviews on the products helped encourage the talented students. It was extremely heartening to witness the Vedanta employees embracing the deeper purpose behind the initiative—supporting specially-abled students in their journey towards empowerment and self-reliance.

“Vedanta Sesa Goa is committed to fostering inclusivity and promoting equal opportunities and we have been regularly providing a platform to organisations working towards the betterment of the society. During the festive season and other occasions we have always had Self Help Groups or other entities working for social good, putting up stalls and making use of the opportunity to garner sales. Our employees and business partners wholeheartedly support these initiatives and are fully ingrained without philosophy of ‘giving back’ meaningfully,” said Dhiraj Kumar Jagdish, Dy CEO, Vedanta Sesa Goa, Iron Ore Goa.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sesa Goa Value added Business, for providing this opportunity to showcase the art work of our talented students. We had a great sale & we are overwhelmed by the encouragement received from the employees. This is indicative of the spirit of the organisation in supporting and motivating the hard work of our special students”,  Said Nitin Volvaikar, Vocational Instructor at Keshav Seva Sadhna Vocational Training Centre, Bicholim.

Vedanta Sesa Goa through Project ‘Jeevika’ has been making concerted efforts to develop entrepreneurs in Goa and to provide a platform which affords women to run successful and viable enterprises.
