VERIFY ANTECEDENTS OF DIRECTORS OF FINANCIAL COMPANIES BEFORE INVESTING IN COMPANIES-CHIEF MINISTER
PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Saturday appealed to people to verify antecedents of directors of financial companies before investing their hard earned monies in such companies.
Inaugurating the 67th Cooperative Week at the Sahakar Bhavan, Curti-Ponda, Sawant said many times people/depositors invest their money in non-banking financial institutions by looking at his or Ministers photograph with the board of directors of such companies. He said directors invite them for various functions, click photographs with them and then misuse their photographs and lure gullible investors.
He said people should check antecedents of such non-banking financial institutions and their directors before depositing their monies.
Sawant announced that a new spacious office will be allotted to the Goa State Co-operative Union Ltd by next month so that the Union can function from its new office from New Year.
He asked the local cooperative societies to take initiative and start courses on cooperatives in association with national-level cooperative societies so that we get candidates competent in the field of cooperatives.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that government officers will visit 191 village panchayats every Saturday for human development. He urged the people to cooperate with the authorities during their visits to respective village panchayats and to make the objective of self-reliant Goa possible.
Urging the people to use wear face masks, use hand sanitizers and maintain social distancing, Sawant hoped that Goa would be COVID-19 free after Diwali festival,
The theme of this year Cooperative Week is ‘COVID Pandemic – Atmanirbhar Bharat – Cooperatives’.
The Cooperative Week is celebrated every year, with the objective of highlighting the achievements of the cooperative sector in various sectoral areas and chalking out future strategies of growth based on dynamics of Cooperative development in each sector.
