Veteran journalist and former editor of Navprabha, Suresh Walve, will be celebrated in ‘Behind The Byline’, know your GUJ member series, on Friday, December 20.
Walve will be in conversation with Vasudev Pagi, Principal Correspondent at Lokmat and GUJ General Secretary, at the GUJ hall, Shram Shakti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji, 4pm.
Walve started his career with Dainik Rashtramat under the guidance of the then Editor Chandrakant Keni. After three years at Dainik Rashtramat, Walve joined Marathi daily Navprabha, where he retired as an Editor.
Of his 36 years in journalism, he held the responsibility as the Editor of Daily Navprabha for 22 years. Renowned for his editorials, Walve worked without a single off day during his stint as the Editor.
Apart from journalism, the veteran journalist has worked as a member, secretary, advisor and president of various bodies, which includes Bicholim Urban Co-operative Bank, Goa Marathi Patrakar Sangh, Mumbai Doordarshan, Film Screenplay Jury Committee and the Goa Union of Journalists (GUJ).
‘Behind The Byline’, know your GUJ member is a monthly series initiated by the Goa Union of Journalists, where a senior GUJ member of repute is introduced to its members. The GUJ member will speak about his experiences of working with the fast-evolving Goan media.
