Necessary infrastructure, be it adequate benches, rooms, or even sports equipment, is important in schools as it allows students to harness their vast potential and talents, boost overall development and achieve greater heights, said Chairman of Goa Rehabilitation Board and Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai
He was speaking after laying the foundation stone of the main staircase cum lift block at St. Aloysius High School, Divar.
The project has been under CSR initiative of Syngenta Biosciences Pvt. Ltd.
Dr. Mukul Lal, Lead at Syngenta Biosciences Pvt. Ltd and P S Jagadeesha, director, were present on the occasion.
The religious rituals were conducted by Faldessai under the guidance of purohit Dinesh Dessai. Members of the management, parents, staff and students were present to witness the ceremony.
Later, a formal function was held in the school hall.
Headmaster Anand Fadte escorted the guests and the dignitaries to the dias. The guest introduction and flower presentation was done by teacher Nancy Rodrigues.
Purushottam Kamat, Shashank Kamat and Suresh Dicholkar were also present.
President of the Diwar Citizens’ Shikshan Saunstha Sandeep Palni, secretary Sarvesh Halarnekar, manager Mhalsakant Deshpande, PTA president of high school section Nilesh Bhomkar, PTA president of primary section Priti Diwadkar, Sharada Niketan president Ulhas Rawal, Rohidas Diwadkar, Premanand Bhomkar, Rohidas Bhomkar, Yogesh Pilgaonkar were also present.
Teacher Pranav Banawalkar presented a short documentary on the school.
In his address, Faldessai applauded the efforts put in by the staff and the management of the school along with parents in bringing laurels to the institution. He also assured to help the institution in all possible ways to make St. Aloysius High School achieve greater heights.
He also thanked the Syngenta Biosciences for undertaking the work of the staircase under CSR funding. He said that the students will immensely benefit from this initiative.
“When a school boasts of necessary infrastructure viz science and computer laboratories, playgrounds, sports equipment, etc, only will then students be able to push the boundaries and achieve success. A holistic environment must be created for the students to thrive and reach their true potential. As a society, we need students to discover their innate talents and put these gifts to use for the betterment of the world,” he said.
Dr. Lal addressed the gathering and praised the students for the success of the institution.
Jagadeesha expressed his views and told students to always respect teachers, parents and elders to be worthy citizens of the country. He also stressed on how education is key to success.
Contractor Pramod Behara was presented with a bouquet of flowers on the occasion at the hands of the MLA.
Teacher Babaji Gaonkar proposed the vote of thanks. Rodrigues compered the function.
The function concluded with Shanti Mantra.
