Panaji: With a focus on women upliftment and addressing issues faced by women, North Goa District President Goa Pradesh Youth Congress Rinaldo Rozario and Members of the BNI North Goa Chapter, Elegance visited Lifeline Foundation, Sankhali on Wednesday, November 1st, for a social cause activity with the NGO.

The group comprising Dr. Tina Redkar (dentist) and President of BNI Elegance, Rozario along with Shawn Paul (Goa-based landscape artist) and Barkha Sharda (Founder, That Book Store) visited the premises which had over 40 women attending the gathering.

Dr. Tina educated the group on oral and dental hygiene and basic healthcare. Rozario shared information on “Super Shakti She”, a Women empowerment programme by Indian Youth Congress. He also shared and educated them on schemes for women in Goa and guided them on how to understand the same. Paul shared ideas on growing one’s own garden and some plants that can be sourced locally. The group also sponsored a fish thali meal prepared by Shanti Lunch Home run by Siddharth Mayekar and his wife Shanti Mayekar.

The group also donated oral hygiene kits, sanitary napkins and biscuits to the group. Albert Furtado sponsored earphones for all the members. Sunaya Shirodkar of Asier Technologies and Jenny Poser of Physio-therapeutics also contributed financially to support this endeavour. Lifeline Foundation in Sankhali supports sex workers and women from the unorganised sector with focus on sexual health and hygiene and mandatory testing and other hygiene practices. The NGO is managed by Narayan and 3 outreach workers along with almost a dozen peer educators. The workers cover areas from Old Goa to Banastarim and Sankhali, Bicholim and Marcel.
