WORK OUT FIVE YEAR PLAN FOR AGRICULTURE: CM

PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant stressing the need for working out proper five year action plan for agriculture in Goa called for efforts for developing Krishi culture by undertaking integrated farming of agriculture and horticulture, agriculture and dairy farming etc.

Dr Sawant chaired the meeting of ICAR officials at his official residence, Altinho.

Dr Sawant further speaking advised the Officials of ICAR and KVK of North Goa and South Goa to work jointly in preparing a five-year action plan for the State. He also advised to recruit staff to do away with the shortage of staff to speed up the work. He sought cooperation of ICAR Goa and other experts for enhancing productivity thereby boosting agriculture productivity in the State. There is a scope for processing of rice and different kinds of fruits which needs the required attention, he added.   

Director of ICAR Goa, Dr E V Chakurkar in his introductory remarks informed about the objective of the meeting to sensitise all concerned about how to enhance agriculture production, its processing, branding and marketing and value addition to enhance the income of farmer, making the farmer self reliant and achieve the goal of Swayampurna Goa at large.

The ICAR also invited experts from various disciplines like horticulture, Agriculture seek their expertise and guidance towards enhancing agriculture in the State.

The participants who participated online were the Dean of the College of Horticulture Mulde BSKV Dapodi, Dr Haldavanekar; Director Atari Pune Dr Lakhan Singh; Director ICAR NIASM Baramati, Dr Jagdish Rane etc.

Principal Scientist ICAR Goa Dr A K Desai; MD Goa State Horticulture Corporation Ltd Sandip Faldesai; Deputy Director DITC, Rohan Kaskar; Functioning Manager, DITC Shri Prashant Kamat; Deputy Director Agriculture’s, Chintamani Perani; Director of Department of Fisheries, Dr Shamila Monteiro; Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Dr Santosh Desai and others were among those who attended the meeting.
